About Reticulum - Q&A
All About Reticulum - Q&A and Discussion - This is the place to discuss everything Reticulum! Ask questions about the protocol, share your experiences, discuss routing strategies, debate design decisions, and help others learn. Topics of interest: How does Reticulum's cryptographic addressing work? What are the best practices for announce propagation? How do you optimize link quality in challenging RF environments? What's your experience with different interface types (LoRa, TCP, UDP, I2P, RNode)? Share your mesh topology maps, packet capture analysis, performance benchmarks, and integration projects. Whether you're just getting started or you're a seasoned mesh veteran, all questions and contributions are welcome. Let's build knowledge together!

Reply: It seems like nodes are announcing super often. Normal? I thought it was once a day or 6 hr or something by default

Reply: hey!! yeah, default announce rate is 6 hours by default in nomadnet config, but is user configurable so anyone set a different delay...ther are nodes out there announcing every 5 or 10 mins

Reply: I have a question about security on nomad net directly. with lxmf, direct peer to peer uses standard asymmetric key crypto for message integrity and confidentiality (and non-repudiation of origin), but on nomadnet public pages are in plaintext correct? is there any TLS equivalent security for the actual exchange of information on a nomadnet page?

Reply: upon further research it looks like there is a diffie-hellman handshake where a shared key is established, but I feel like forum communications will be essentially free read to anyone who visits the page...

Reply: So, I wanted to link to an article on this forum - but the link failed, and then I noticed that all topics have the same link; page/article.mu. So how do you link to individual topics?

Reply: I'm currently struggling a bit with tho I2P interface. It's a network I like and I think true anonimity is extremely important.
I set-up a couple of interfaces after bootstraping from the directory and then with a couple of interfaces that were discoverd by my node (if there's a way to auto-add *by interface* on rnsd, I would be happy to know).
The interfaces are all different, but rnsd struggles with very frequent "unresponsive sockets" and when I try to browse the retinet, I get a lot of timeouts.
Does anyone face simïlar issues?

Reply: I am new to Reticulum. On rmap.world I saw that there is a lora node in my area (58a496cef254ed68b01c035ea17fab07) but so far I have been unable to connect to it. Besides direct connection through lora, should it be possible to connect through propagation since it shows up on the map?

Reply: You should first check your RNode parameters Freq. etc. if they are given for you peer on rMap.

Reply: Yes, I have checked that the parameters are the same. It is possible though, that the parameters listed are not correct.

Reply: That's why I thought I can maybe reach them over TCP to confirm the parameters

Reply: Does anyone ever used group destinations? do they work out of the box with LXMF Propagation Nodes? Does any client have support for them?

Reply: Found the nice nomadnet page and the web console which are integrated into the micro reticulum firmware, meanwhile.

Reply: Hi from Colombia! Using meshchatx version 4.7.2, I made some folders for storing favorites but once moved there, my nodes won't stay there. Anyone else having this problem?
